Retro/Vintage Unity Hop

Hi Friends!

I am excited to be hopping along this month with my Friends of Unity again and this month the theme is Retro/Vintage! I will admit, this is not a style I normally gravitate towards. However, Unity does have some really awesome images that helped me put together a few cards that fit the theme!

I’m starting off today sharing a card I created with this cool vintage truck from the stamp kit called “Ol’ Fashion Holiday Love”.

For this card I stamped the image onto watercolor paper and quickly brought it to life using Karin Pro watercolor brush markers. It took literally seconds to add some color. I also stamped the wreath onto watercolor paper as well and once the image was dry I fussy cut the image out to layer onto the truck with a pop up dot.

The base of my image is simply shimmery silver cardstock cut to A2 size and then I used some pretty patterned paper cut 1/8 inch smaller to use as my mat.

The stamped image was cut out using a rectangle stitched die and then another piece of shimmery silver cardstock was cut slightly larger and adhered a bit off center (as shown) to my card base

The sentiment was stamped onto watercolor paper and cut out using a stitched banner die. I also cut out another banner die and then adhered them off center as well

A few shimmery baubles were added to accent.

This was a really simple card to make and perfect for the holiday season as well!

The next card I made, I used another cool vintage truck from the kit called ” Truckload of Blooms”

For this card I cut a piece of gray cardstock A2 size as my base.

After stamping the image in Gina K amalgam ink I added some color using Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

Using a sun ray stencil I ink blended the sun rays with Gina K dye ink then cut out my image using a stitched rectangle die then stamped my sentiment in the upper left hand corner

I adhered the image wonkily onto my card base as shown. I added a bit of Wink of Stella to my flowers although it’s really hard to see in the picture.

For my last card I used the kit called “Focus on the things “

Some people would say that cameras aren’t “vintage “ but I’ll admit, I don’t think I have picked up a “real” camera ever since the iPhone has been introduced! So, in my world, they fit right into the theme!

For this card, I dusted off my Prismacolor colored pencils which are becoming “vintage” as well in my world of art! How often do you use colored pencils?

After stamping my image I simply used my pencils to bring it to life. Afterwards , the sentiment was stamped inside the frame and after fussy cutting I adhered it to the card with foam dots.

I punched out a pink flower from scrap cardstock and for the center I added a brad! If they aren’t “vintage “ accents I don’t know what else is!

The finished image was glued to a light blue cardstock base and is ready to be mailed!
